Korean Goblin (Dokkebi) Design
-What is Dokkaebi?-
Dokkaebi is a traditional superstition in Korea in which it is believed to formed by a spiritual possesion usually from discarded household tools which have once been used by a person, or from object stained with human blood. These mythological creatures are know to have naughty characteristics, enjoying prank on humans. However, they also have low intelligence, so many of the Dokkaebi in folklore end up getting tricked by the human they were trying to play tricks on.
-The Design-
Since a Dokkaebi is formed by a spiritual possesion on household tools, I have decided to design a Dokkaebi that is spirited from a bowl since bowl is the most common household tool that many people use. Dokkaebi is also known to be naughty and idiotic, so I decided put those characteristics in my design.
- Introduction-
This Dokkaebi's name is Tobi, combined from the word 토기(Togi), which is a bowl that has been used since the ancient time, and the word Dokkaebi. Tobi is a dokkebi created from a bowl that likes to play prank on humans, but always end up getting fooled by the human it was trying to play tricks on due to its idiocy. Altho Tobi likes to play tricks on people, its favorite activity is chasing butterflies. Tobi chases butterflies whenever it sees one, and always end up losing its magical bat.
